Neil Patrick Harris will be a judge on "American Idol"?
The star of "How I Met Your Mother" sat at the judges' table to help weigh in on the singers during Tuesday's Dallas auditions.
The host of the 2009 Emmy Awards joins the "Idol" guest judge lineup that includes Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson.
Guess they're not really missing Paula Abdul much yet.
We'd watch anything NPH is on. And we bet he can make Simon Cowell squirm.

Liam Neeson said he was still a proud Irishman but the warmth from well wishers the other side of the Atlantic prompted him to seek citizenship.
Neeson's wife, actress Natasha Richardson, died in March following a skiing accident in Quebec, Canada.
Appearing on ABC's Good Morning America, Neeson said he and the couple's two sons were "doing good" five months on from the tragic accident.
"To be honest, we are taking each day as it comes," he added.
The 57-year-old actor said he was still getting extraordinary letters of condolences from people in America.
"That is partly the reason why I've recently become an American citizen," Neeson said, adding: "I'm still a proud Irishman, of course, but I've become an American citizen - I'm very proud of that."
Appearing to promote his latest film, Five Minutes of Heaven, Neeson also paid tribute to Senator Ted Kennedy, who died of brain cancer last night at the age of 77. He recalled how the "Lion of the Senate" comforted him in the wake of his own family's tragedy.
"I met him a couple of times over the years, and he wrote my family a very, very beautiful, touching condolence letter when Natasha died earlier this year," said Neeson. "He was a special man. It's the end of an era."
Don't count Jon Gosselin out of the picture just yet.
Reports of his saying he's ready to withdraw from TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 are not only premature – they just aren't true.
"I never said that," Jon told PEOPLE while speaking outside his house on Wednesday. "A fan asked me, 'Don't you sometimes wish you could go back to a 9-to-5 job?' [And my reply was,] 'Yeah, because this is 24/7 and 9-to-5ers punch in and punch out and you have no responsibilities.' "
Pointing to the paparazzi collected outside his family home, Gosselin said, "Here … you have to watch what you say so it doesn't contradict something else."
He believes the story was the result of someone having "overheard something that was nothing."
Clearing up other misinformation, Gosselin said, "And the other one was that the kids didn't want to film anymore. No, they just didn't want to film that day."
That's easily explained, too. "It's 96 degrees outside and they just said they wanted to go in the pool. So guess what? They took their clothes off, put their swimsuits on and jumped in the pool ... I just looked at my producer and said, 'What are you going to do?' "
As for his literal fashion statement – being photographed in a T-shirt bearing the message, "Lies, Lies" – Gosselin says: "I just thought it was funny, because people can write anything about me ... How can you write something about me or say something about me without actually asking me?"
Kate Gosselin will guest co-host ABC's The View.
The reality TV mom of eight will be appearing on the Sept. 14 and 15 shows, occupying the seat of regular co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is out on maternity leave after giving birth to her third child, Isaiah, earlier this month.
Meghan McCain, former FOX News Channel anchor E.D. Hill and LaToya Jackson have also been announced as guest co-hosts.
