Selena Gomez fans cause mall escalator to collapse
Five people are injured at the Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro Saturday as they clamored to get a glimpse of a TV star.
The cell phone picture to the left was sent to us by a FOX 25 viewer.
The Sun Chronicle reports the crowd was waiting for an appearance by Disney star, Selena Gomez, when the escalator suddenly went into reverse.
Repair workers say that can happen when an escalator becomes overcrowded.
Witnesses say Gomez was just coming out to address the crowd when fans rushed onto the up escalator causing it to fall backwards.
