After her 8 year relationship with handsome actor Stuart Townsend crumbled in January, Charlize turned to Keanu for comfort.
And The Devil's Advocate co-stars quickly realized there was something more than friendship between them.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Charlize Theron and longtime boyfriend Stuart Townsend have split, although Theron denies the couple have parted ways.
Theron, 34, and Townsend, 37, have been an item for nine years. Much has been made of the relative success of their careers, as Theron has featured in many high profile roles and won an Oscar, and Townsend’s work has been far lower in profile. The Mail quotes Theron on the effect of the disparity on their relationship:
Charlize and Townsend met in 2001 when they co-starred in the thriller Trapped. Her career subsequently took off, thanks to films such as Hancock and Monster, for which she won the Best Actress Oscar, as well as a £10million deal to be the ‘face’ of the Christian Dior perfume J’Adore.
But her boyfriend has enjoyed less success, with credits including a supporting role in The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen and a starring role in the American television series Night Stalker, which was cancelled after just six episodes.
Charlize – whose latest film The Road opened in the UK this month – once said: ‘Living with another actor, you always feel guilty if things are going your way and it’s not going that way for the other person.’
Sources say the actress has been spotted in public several times since Christmas without her “commitment ring.”
CHARLIZE THERON is helping turn her native South Africa into a soccer Mecca in honour of the upcoming World Cup.
The soccer tournament will be hosted by South Africa next year (10) and the Oscar winner can't wait to be a part of the celebration.
Theron's Africa Outreach charity is raising cash to build soccer fields all over Africa, so rural kids will be able to kick a ball about.
She says, "I love soccer and it's great for Africa that we're finally hosting it (World Cup). We're so proud.

Charlize Theron stunned guests at the OneXOne charity event in San Francisco when she announced that along with a ticket to next year's World Cup finals she would throw in a kiss.
Theron was helping out at the fundraiser by auctioning off the trip to her native South Africa.
When the actress - an Oscar-winner in 2004 for Monster - saw that the bidding was hitting a bit of a slump, she offered up a smooch with the lucky bidder.
On the announcement of the new addition to the prize, one gentleman immediately pushed the bid up to £79,000.
However, he didn't win. A woman in the audience sealed the deal with a bid of £85,000.
Theron - who took over hosting the event after actor Matt Damon pulled out due to a "family emergency" - was shocked when an unnamed woman offered the staggering sum, but agreed to lock lips in front of the cheering crowd.
The Italian Job, North Country and Arrested Development star, who is in a long-term relationship with Irish actor Stuart Townsend, joked after the 20-second kiss: "My boyfriend is not here."
